(03)  Tips

Photos that get accepted

  • Face the camera with a neutral expression, eyes open, in even light.
  • Use a plain white or very light wall behind you, with no shadows.
  • Your head should fill most of the frame: zoom until it is about 70 to 80% of the height.
  • Sign with a dark pen on white paper, photograph it flat in daylight, and use signature clean-up.
  • Keep the original photo. Resize a copy for each form, because limits differ.
  • Check the KB size the tool shows before uploading. Forms reject files outside their range.

(+)  FAQ

Common questions

What is the passport size photo size in Nepal?

A Nepali passport size (PP size) photo is 35 × 45 mm, which is 3.5 × 4.5 cm or about 1.38 × 1.77 inches. At 300 DPI, the usual print resolution, that is 413 × 531 pixels. This tool exports exactly that size and can lay out a print sheet for you.

What photo size does the Lok Sewa Aayog online form accept?

Guides and notices for the Public Service Commission form usually ask for a JPG photo between about 10 KB and 50 KB, and a JPG signature in a similar range. Requirements can change between notices, so check the current notice on psc.gov.np and enter its exact limits in the custom fields.

How do I reduce my photo to under 50 KB?

Choose the Lok Sewa preset or set the maximum to 50 KB, then click Create JPG. The tool finds the highest JPEG quality that stays under the limit, so the photo stays as sharp as the limit allows.

My signature file is too small. What do I do?

A clean signature on white paper can compress to just a few KB, which some forms reject. The tool first tries maximum quality, then, if needed, adds a standard JPEG comment block to reach the minimum size. The picture itself does not change.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The photo is read, cropped and compressed in your browser with a canvas. Nothing is sent anywhere, which matters for ID photos and signatures.

Do I need to upload a photo for the Nepal e-passport?

For the e-passport, the photo is normally taken at the enrolment counter when you give your biometrics, so you fill in the online form without uploading a photo. Use this tool for printed PP size photos and for other online forms.

How do I print passport photos at home or at a photo shop?

Click 4 × 6 sheet or A4 sheet after creating your photo. You get a 300 DPI JPG with several copies and light cutting guides. Print it at 100% (actual size), not "fit to page", or the photos will come out the wrong size.

What background should my photo have?

Most Nepali ID and passport photos need a plain white or very light background, a front-facing face and no glasses glare. This tool fills any empty area with the background color you pick, but it does not remove an existing background.
