Type Nepali with an English keyboard
Consonants next to each other join automatically (namaste → नमस्ते, garnu → गर्नु). A consonant on its own keeps its "a" sound. Capitalised words like Mero or Nepal are read normally.

Common questions
How do I type Nepali using an English keyboard?
Choose "Roman → नेपाली" and type Nepali words in English letters: mero naam becomes मेरो नाम as you type. Double a vowel for the long form (aa = ा, ii = ी, uu = ू), use capitals for ट ठ ड ढ ण ष, and copy the result into any app. The cheat sheet on this page lists every key.
What is the difference between Preeti and Unicode?
Preeti is an old font that draws Nepali letters on top of English keyboard characters, so the text is really English letters that only look Nepali while the Preeti font is applied. Unicode stores real Devanagari characters that every phone, browser and app understands. Unicode text can be searched, read by screen readers and shared without fonts.
Why does my Preeti text show as English letters?
Because the Preeti font is not installed or not applied on that device or app. Text like "g]kfn" is Preeti for "नेपाल". Convert it to Unicode here and it will display correctly everywhere.
How do I convert a Word file from Preeti to Unicode?
Open the file in Word, select the Preeti text, copy it, paste it into the left box here and copy the Unicode result. Paste it back into Word and set a Unicode font such as Mangal, Kalimati or Noto Sans Devanagari.
Can I convert Unicode back to Preeti?
Yes. Switch the direction to "Unicode to Preeti", paste your Unicode Nepali, copy the result and paste it into a document that uses the Preeti font. This is useful when an office template or print shop still needs Preeti.
Does it handle half letters, ि and reph correctly?
Yes. In Preeti, the short i sign is typed before its letter and the reph (र्) after its syllable. The converter moves them into the correct Unicode order and handles half letters, ra-kaar and conjuncts like क्ष, त्र, ज्ञ and श्र. I test it against a list of tricky words.
What happens to English words in my Preeti document?
English words typed in Preeti look like random Nepali letters after conversion, because Preeti uses the same keys. Convert only the Nepali parts, or fix English words by hand afterwards.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser as you type. Nothing is uploaded, so it is safe for official letters and private documents.
