Overview

A free collection of the games Nepali families play during Dashain and Tihar: Teen Patti, Call Break, Jut Patti, Marriage, Bagh-Chal, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, Carrom and Langur Burja. No download, no sign-up.

When families gather for Dashain, the cards and boards come out. Most digital versions are heavy apps with mandatory sign-ups. I wanted something you could open in a browser, hand to your grandparents and start playing straight away, even with no connection.

Dashain Games runs on phones, tablets and computers, installs to the home screen like an app, and keeps most games playable offline. Teen Patti supports private online tables for 2–6 players through a room code, and the other games offer computer opponents or pass-and-play on one device.

How I built it

  • 01Designed and built every game, from card-dealing logic to 3D Langur Burja dice
  • 02Wrote computer opponents with selectable difficulty
  • 03Built private real-time multiplayer rooms for Teen Patti
  • 04Made it an installable, offline-first web app

Outcome

  • Nine complete games playable on any device with no install
  • Virtual chips only in Teen Patti: nothing is played for money
